Keshco News
For our latest news it's often best to check either our Facebook, MySpace, blog or even our Twitter feed.
July 2011Lots
of live performances at the moment. Do check the gigs page for details.
If we're not coming to your town, why not make a request?
Our
Record Store Day single has found a home online and will shortly be
available via 4-4-2 Music's Bandcamp page (I'll add in the link once
this is up). Also, we have a batch of instrumental recordings from our
sister band Bleak House coming out soonish.
Deforestation of Dak can now be purchased in the Truck Store in Oxford...
It was World Oceans Day on June 8th, and for the last few years aquatic act Notebook Of A Mermaid
has curated compilation CDs to mark the event. This year we submitted a
cover of Brian Eno's "By This River". You can see our promo on YouTube here. We have a couple of copies of the CDs, if anyone would like one...
Finally, our cover of Squeeze's "Bang Bang" is finally available to buy,
as part of the 4 CD set "Songs of Squeeze Revisited: If I... If I... If
I..." released by Burning Sky Records. Catch it here: http://www.burningskyrecords.com/bsrsqueezev2.php
April 2011 Plenty of news, dear reader. If you reside in or around London, you can see a live
Keshco set on 17th April as part of arts'n'crafts club Hungamunga's 5th
birthday. It'll be our second one, and our third visit to the salubrious
surroundings of the Bethnal Green Working Mens Club. Vimtos all round.
Further
ahead, Keshcologists are getting pleasantly salivatory over the threat
of another Trolley Crash at the start of August, including a screening
of Johnny Cocktail's epic adventure in a dangerous netherworld, which is
55 minutes long and avoiding being trimmed as I type.
Luke's
birthday was commemorated with the gift of a lap steel. Wide open vistas
beckon. Slide guitar is go! Robert has made a percussive frame filled
with chimes, keys, necklaces, random bits of metal. Jingling is go! Andy
is excited that his Morley Sapphire is finally working properly. Flange
is go!
Accountants By Day has now been uploaded to the Internet Archive, podcast sourcing directory Music Alley, and WFMU's Free Music Archive. A few kind souls have been playing some of our tracks in their shows.
You've
seen our Fly By Night promo, I hope - featuring action figures
from Dr Who, Buffy, Preacher and Star Trek. It's on YouTube. Also on the
video front, look out for a sneak preview of some new Keshco songs
which aren't even scheduled for our next EP (out June-ish).November 2010
Our
new digital multitrack (woo!) has been put to good use recently,
recording a glut of new, mainly instrumental library style tunes down
in Exmouth, and also preparing our next EP, "Accountants By Day", which
has been virtually all recorded live. Seasoned Keshcologists will
know that's a big change. We're hoping it'll be out for Christmas.
Also
recently, we've contributed to a couple of cover projects, submitting a
version of Squeeze's long-forgotten "Bang Bang" to a US compilation,
and our take on Frank Zappa's "Who Are The Brain Police?" (yes, ho ho)
to a Creative Commons tribute. August 2010Our latest EP is "Lego Of Me", released on 2nd August 2010 by our friends at WM Recordings.
It's 24 minutes long with six tracks, including prog-fest "James
Harries" about the curly-haired antiques prodigy. As usual, it's
a Creative Commons release, so once you've listened please feel free to
drop us a note to say what you thought, or even your own remix!
Another
new Keshco track - we entered a cover of the Ladybug Transistor's
"Oceans In The Hall" for this year's International Ocean Day
compilation curated by Notebook of a Mermaid. You can download
our version from the audio page.
We're updating the lyrics section on the site, hope you like it. There's also a new Art gallery.January 2010Our
latest free EP came out on 23rd December 2009. "The Power Of Hot
Air" is 22 minutes long with eight fabulously eclectic tracks that
touch on aging, clutter and calculator watches. You can download
it from Swedish netlabel 23 Seconds
- but do please drop us or them a note to say what you thought!
It's Creative Commons, too, so all you budding remixers by all
means get tweaking...
In
the spirit of free and easy living, a spot of midwinter madness has
entered our feverish brains. For the rest of this month,
"Deforestation of Dak" will be FREE TO DOWNLOAD IN ITS ENTIRETY from
the Keshco page at Last.fm. Be quick now!June 2009

What would
you like to see more of on this site? Get in touch!
Please
download the EP. It's free and
delicious.
We are, as
ever, looking for gig shares, collaborations and fruity flapjacks.
August 2008
Two exciting
developments.
On 8th August, it's Keshco's first ever night, Trolley Crash
at
the Dry Bar in London. More details on the gigs page.
Do
come along and make yourself known.
Keshco's new
FREE EP, also
called "Trolley Crash", is now downloadable through WM Recordings.
You can also get it via the Internet
Archive.
It's 22 minutes long with eight tracks, five of which are
destined (in one form or another) for our next proper CD album.
But in the meantime, grab yourself some lovingly-crafted
freebies
and do let us know what you think...
April
2008
Time! No time!
Keshcologists are planning for the summer months.
We have a
couple of gigs coming up, but want lots more. A residency
would
be good. If you could offer us a whole night/week/year to
ourselves, that would be brilliant.
Robert has unveiled Fallen Music Volume 5, which features over 40 (!)
tracks from the last few years - awkward love songs, creepy comedy and
wild freakouts. It's spread over two CDs and each pack comes
with
homemade artwork, for £5. Now I know that you want
to get a
copy, so why not get in touch through this site rather than buying more
Quavers?
January 2008
A new year brings a new
diary and, this time around, a new site. Keshco has been
upgraded, and not a moment too soon. So, what's going on?
SKIP Theatre:
On
31 January Keshco will be playing their first gig of the year down in
New Cross. Expect strawberry-flavoured shenanigans and
dancing
girls. This all takes place at the Amersham Arms, London.
Try our MySpace page for updated gig info.
Johnny Cocktail: Keshco's favourite lifestyle guru/private
investigator returns in new episodes coming to YouTube.
Filming
now!
Beware!: The fanzine written by Keshcologists old and new is
onto
its second issue, and an annual is mooted. Beware! is
available
for free at gigs or via the post (see the Contact page for details).
Albums: Keshco's next CD release is "Deforestation Of Dak",
lovingly homemade and currently about two-thirds recorded.
This
is to be accompanied by "Keshco's Butter Mountain", a
stream-of-consciousness collection of odds and sods.
